Volunteering

Volunteers founded Hubbard House in 1976, and today our volunteers continue to serve a vital role in every aspect of the agency. Why are volunteers so important to Hubbard House? Volunteers contribute their time and energy, their ideas and their ideals. They increase our visibility in the community, expand our capacity to provide services, and send a strong message of caring to our clients.

Volunteer service brings a special source of personal satisfaction and the opportunity to make a difference in your community. We offer numerous opportunities for you, your organization or your company to help. Hubbard House thrives because volunteers serve in all Hubbard House programs; some provide help on a regularly scheduled basis while others work on special projects as the need arises. The most important skill required of our volunteers is the capacity to care and the willingness to help those in need.

It’s easy to get involved by following this process:

Our Volunteer Program offers a wide variety of individual and group opportunities. We value our volunteers’ time and make a commitment to provide options that are flexible to meet a variety of schedules.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers assist in various positions throughout our programs from clerical support, staffing community events, caring for children in our childcare center, working with survivors in our shelter, court and advocacy programs, and co-facilitating sessions of our children’s outreach program. Each role makes a difference, each roles leaves a legacy of hope.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome volunteer efforts from community groups, civic associations, local businesses, faith-based organizations, schools and universities, and youth programs. A brief agency overview is provided for the group and many of these opportunities can be completed in just a few hours. Whether you host a party for children in shelter, plan a landscaping project on our grounds, or host a collection drive at your facility, every effort has the potential to make a difference in someone’s life. The Group Volunteer Opportunities list has some suggested projects that have been successful but if your idea is not included please call us to discuss possibilities. Groups of 5 to 15 are preferred.
